IndexTools might just fill the void

I had a sneak preview of the IndexTools Enterprise Version 10 (whatever this may be called) yesterday, which is currently scheduled for release January/February time. I have to say as an analysts tool I thought it was very good and exceptionally flexible, basically using flex technology and drag and drop functionality to combine data from various reports and segments.

IndexTools is already in my opinion a comparable product to Omniture SC. When the new version goes live I would say we have a definite contender who will lead the charge against Omniture in both the SiteCatalyst category and with the Omniture Discover clientele. It is definitely a tool for the analyst and IndexTools agreed with me. It’s refreshing to hear a vendor say that. The trouble with many vendor approaches is that they try to show a business person how a product can be used to help with say marketing and then once the product is sold the marketing person hasn’t a clue how to get the information required to improve their business.

It’s why at the eMetrics summit I talked about process and people so much. IndexTools is positioning itself as a tool for the analyst to get analysis out to the people who need it. That follows my line of thinking perfectly, that a) you need skilled analysts in the hub and b) you need a process to get the value from the tool.

IndexTools have done what I hinted they might when I was on the panel at the eMetrics summit. I said then that the Omniture/VS merger was a great opportunity for IndexTools to fill the void left by 2 big companies combining forces and the release of their new product is a timely coincidence they haven’t been slow to capitalise on. This release isn’t something they did in response to Omniture, judging by the power of the system it’s something they’ve been developing for a long time. However the timing couldn’t have been better. Webtrends are currently on the back foot, hiring interim staff to fill the void left by those that were sacked or left of their own accord. IndexTools look like they’re about to take full advantage.

Hi Steve,

As always; it was very nice to talk to you! and I am absolutely happy that the “sneak peak” impressed you. To be honest – you are the first external person we have shown it to so far. So this is exactly the response we are looking for.

AND I agree that we could not have hoped for a better business climate that this (and I would love to say that we planned the last years to culminate in the Omniture/VS merger and the Webtrends tumult).. But it just shows that somebody up there loves me .. ha ha

Talk to you in Stockholm?!

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the comment. Yes I’ll speak to you in Stockholm. I’m moderating one panel on the Thursday and sitting on another on the Friday.
